praia do forte

On Friday we went to Praia do Forte, about an hour up the coast.

There’s a turtle conservation project there called Projeto Tamar . We saw fish and baby sea turtles in tanks.

At one point we joined a tour group, and listened to the guide explaining (in Portuguese) how lots of turtles die from eating plastic.

E. understood the whole thing. Pretty cool.

Then we strolled around Praia do Forte, a cute beach town with an old church, a harbor, and a cobblestone main street with expensive shops.

And Ju had his first (tiny) taste of ice cream.

More please!

Am I allowed to comment on how cute my own kids are? Or is it too awkward? Can't help it.

Why didn't you write in as a disinterested observer like me? Those grandkids of mine are beautifuL!

Oh how wonderful!
My husband and I vacationed to Isla Mujeres off the coast of Cancun. We decided to walk the entire Island and on our way we found this tiny sea turtle rescue center set away from the road. It only cost two dollars to get into and it was the experience of a lifetime.

What a great thing to give your kids. Looks like they really enjoyed it!

I reckon everyone should comment on how cute your kids are - that last photo in particular is a real keeper!

Enjoy your last few months there guys - no doubt it'll fly by...

Wow! Really jealous that you're so close to the sea. I definitely miss vacations by the sea-side; I guess growing up in Singapore has instilled in me an affinity to the beach- but I don't think there are any safe bodies of water around here in Beijing!
