muskets and maladies

Last week we took advantage of the lovely fall weather and went to Valley Forge.

History has never really been my thing, but it is cool to be exposing a curious almost-seven-year old to it for the first time.

The battle reenactment was a bit much for E.'s ears, though. But not for R., poor thing. He has almost no hearing left, thanks to fluid in his ears.

But that's going to change on Monday, when he get tubes put in. Thank goodness.

The mishearing mishaps have been kind of funny. Like when he asked, can we hear that song, 'We're Giving Away Diseases?' Which, after much trial and error, we discovered was Willy Nelson's 'Forgiving You is Easy.'

I'm hoping that, just maybe, it will help with some difficult behavior, too. Then again, hearing and listening are two different things.

LOL at giving away diseases. Oh my Ruby, my precious jewel, how I miss you.

(Nice hair on daddy, by the way)

Nice post with excellent pictures. The pictures alone would make me want to go there, because they show how much character the place has!
