E. and I had our birthday this week. On Thursday we went into E.'s class. Dan brought his guitar.
And yesterday we had a party at home which, as usual, was exhausting and lots of fun. How much longer will we be able to have these parties at home, with mostly family and grown-up friends, before E. realizes that it's totally uncool?
Although I do think next time I'll have more planned, calm activities, instead of letting the kids loose in the house to play freeze tag and hide and seek.
At one point I went upstairs and the kids were opening the closets and doing who knows what in my office. One of E.'s friends was in our bed perusing a magazine from the bedside table.
"You read the New Yorker?" he said. "I love the New Yorker."

Haha. smiling at that last line. Happy birthday to the both of you! I didn't know your son played the guitar. My nephew turned 8 last week and we baked a cake and had a few of his friends. I think it's much more affordable plus more intimate to celebrate at home. Looking forward to another year reading your blog!
Happy Birthday!! Love the pictures and the birthday ideas. I especially love the part with the New York Times. That's awesome and so very cute.
Have a great week!!!
Happy belated my dear, we miss you every day!
